Campaigner Nicola Fisher, 35, pictured, was allegedly hit by Sgt Delroy Smellie at a vigil on 2 April for Ian Tomlinson, who died the day before at the G20 protests.

Sgt Smellie, from the Territorial Support Group, was allegedly photographed hitting Ms Fisher across the legs with a metal baton.

Ms Fisher said of the "culling" of photographs: "I'm disgusted. It is sinister and will be more damaging to them in the long run.

"There are court cases, and they are potentially destroying evidence."

Sgt Smellie will appear before Westminster magistrates on 16 November charged with assault.
