'I've got nothing to be ashamed of,' says disgraced actor Chris Langham

Disgraced actor Chris Langham revealed in a TV interview that he believes he has "nothing to be ashamed of" as he attempts to rebuild his career following his conviction for downloading child pornography.

The comedian claimed during an interview recorded just days after he was released from prison that he had even been "courageous" when he viewed shocking images of child sex abuse.

Langham, 58, broke down in tears as he spoke to psychologist Pamela Connolly, wife of comedian Billy, for a probing interview for More4 show Shrink Rap.

The programme encourages celebrities to talk about their vulnerabilities under the glare of cameras and will be shown tonight.

The Thick Of It star spoke about his time behind bars last year - he was jailed for six months and released in November.

"It doesn't matter what people say - of course it's inconvenient and it hurts my children.

"But I know who I am and I have nothing to be ashamed of."

Throughout his trial, Langham had claimed that he was looking at the indecent images of children for research reasons.

He added that he had been "arrogant and pig-headed" in his decision to look at the child pornography.

Inside prison the TV star received death-threats from the other inmates.

"I thought if these children could endure what they did when these images were created, at least I could have the courage to sit there and watch it," he added.
