Jewellery of woman beaten as she slept

DETECTIVES investigating a brutal attack on a woman as she slept have released images of distinctive jewellery they believe was taken during the assault.

Police were called to the woman's home in Catford after builders found her unconscious.

The 48-year-old, identified only as Shareen, was taken to hospital, where she is being treated for fractures to her skull and jaw.

Police are treating the incident as attempted murder. It is believed the woman was attacked late on Sunday 9 November while her husband was away. She was found two days later.

Detective Inspector Paul Chamberlain, of Lewisham CID, said: "A large amount of distinctive jewellery has been taken and tracing these objects is essential to help finding the person responsible."

Anyone with information is asked to contact 020 8284 8414.
