John Prescott in pact with Tracey Temple on tell-all book

John Prescott has ducked out of recalling the two-year affair with Tracey Temple (pictured) or its embarrassing exposure in 2006 in his new autobiography
John Prescott's autobiography will gloss over the tawdry affair which led to his ministerial career ending in disgrace, according to friends.

The former Deputy Prime Minister has made a secret pact with his former secretary, Tracey Temple, to make little or no mention of their illicit fling - a deal that has angered her ex-partner.

Despite being paid a reported £500,000 for his memoirs, entitled Prezza: My Story: Pulling No Punches, Mr Prescott has ducked out of recalling the two-year affair or its embarrassing exposure in 2006.

According to Miss Temple's friends, he has even gone out of his way to reassure his former aide that he is not going to revisit the fling in his book.

The secretary still works in Mr Prescott's old office - her position unaffected despite her talking in detail to this newspaper about the affair when it was revealed three years ago.

The 45-year-old only spoke out after her former partner, Barrie Williams, went public about her relationship with Mr Prescott. She declined to comment further yesterday.

But Mr Williams, who still lives less than three miles from his former girlfriend, said he intends to turn up at Mr Prescott's first book signing to remind him the affair has not been forgotten.

"They have ruined my life," he said. "Tracey has still got her job and he is going to make a packet from this book, while I am still a laughing stock.

"I was told that they have both agreed a pact not to speak publicly again over what went on between them. He isn't putting any of it in his book and she has agreed not to do any more interviews."

Mr Prescott, 69, who resigned as Deputy Prime Minister last June and will retire as an MP at the next General Election, is relying on chapters about the bitter in-fighting between Gordon Brown and Tony Blair and personal episodes such as his secret battle with bulimia, to make it a best-seller.

The book, ghostwritten by footballer Wayne Rooney's biographer Hunter Davies, is due to be published in June.

Last night, Mr Prescott was unavailable for comment.
