Jude's artist sister pops up in vacant shop

Empty shops across London are being turned into temporary art galleries in a move inspired by the spread of "pop-up" boutiques.

The Grosvenor Estate, one of the capital's biggest landlords, has gone into partnership with Belgravia art gallery Eleven to launch a series of "pop galleries".

Artists taking part in the venture include Jude Law's elder sister Natasha Law, portraitist Jonathan Yeo, Martha Parsey, who is famed for her paintings of women, and figurative painter Marius Bercea.

Grosvenor today handed over its first vacant unit - formerly a ladieswear shop at 42 Elizabeth Street, Belgravia - for use by the gallery. The exhibition runs until tomorrow night.

Ms Law, who lives in Peckham and is known for her use of household paints to create erotic images, said: "It's sad seeing shops empty and such a good idea to do these pop-up galleries. I'm delighted to be involved."

Grosvenor is chaired by the Duke of Westminster.
