Baby P council 'blundered' on mother's abuse of 10 children

The council that failed Baby P was today accused of blunders in another child protection case.

Last year it was revealed that a mother was jailed for abusing her 10 children in Haringey. The council refused to disclose when the children became known to social services.

It has emerged that council staff first contacted the family in 2002, seven years before police rescued the children, and that at least one child
was on the at-risk register.

Claude Knights of charity Kidscape, said: "Lessons from Peter Connelly's death have not been learned."

Haringey council said: "This case was when things were badly wrong in our child protection services."
