One, clad only in black underpants, was missing presumed drowned after jumping off a motorway bridge into the Thames at Runnymede at 1.20am yesterday.
Police used boats and a helicopter to search for the man, who was described as slim and thought to have been aged between 18 and 20.
Officers said they had few clues to his identity and did not know whether he had jumped off the bridge near the Runnymede Hotel and the Egham overpass as a drunken prank.
Just after 3pm another man fell from a bridge between junctions 8 and 9, dying as he was struck by vehicles on the anti-clockwise carriage.
Officer have appealed for the drivers involved or witnesses to the incident near Leatherhead in Surrey to come forward.
They particularly wish to speak to the driver of a white Ford Transit-style van.
