Madeleine's parents to move to new base as the search continues

The parents of missing youngster Madeleine McCann are to move to a new base in the Portuguese resort where she vanished as the search for their daughter continues.

Gerry and Kate McCann moved into an apartment the day after four-year-old Madeleine was snatched as the couple ate dinner yards away.

But they have been looking for new accommodation because the apartment is booked for the holiday season, The apartment owners have allowed the McCanns to stay there since she disappeared last month but in two weeks time the apartment is booked for a family holiday in the popular resort.

Gerry, 39, said on his daily blog on their campaign website www.bringmadeleinehome.com: "If Madeleine is not found in the next couple of weeks we need to move out of the apartment we have been staying."

Cardiac consultant Gerry added: "The owners have been extremely understanding, as they came here for a holiday and relocated to another apartment to save us moving again.

"This degree of flexibility does not exist in the resort in high season."

Gerry, who lives with Kate, 38, and their three children in Rothley, near Leicester, added: "We have managed to look at a few properties to rent in the last couple of days and I think we have found somewhere suitable to live until we return back to the UK with Madeleine."

The family - including two-year-old twins Sean and Amelie - have used the apartment in Praia da Luz to launch the massive campaign to raise worldwide awareness in the search for Madeleine.
