Mamma Mia of rock set for the West End

A Broadway smash hit that has been dubbed "the Mamma Mia! for dudes" is on its way to the West End.

Rock Of Ages features guitar hits of the Eighties and was nominated for five Tony Awards in its first year on Broadway.

Now the producers hope to have a London version by next year.

Set in 1987 on Los Angeles's Sunset Strip, the musical includes hits of "hair metal" bands such as Journey, Poison, Whitesnake and REO Speedwagon.

An insider said: "It has done fantastically well in New York so the producers are keen to bring it to London."
