Man shot in Forest Gate raid to give evidence at inquiry - putting more pressure on Met chief

In a move that could increase pressure on Met chief Sir Ian Blair, the Commons home affairs committee has asked Mohammed Abdulkahar to give evidence for an inquiry.
He will be joined by his brother Abdul Koyair tomorrow to relive the night in June last year when armed anti-terror officers stormed their home.
The raid, involving 250 police, carried out after bogus intelligence was that a chemical bomb was being made in the house. But after a destructive search of the property nothing was found.
Taxpayers were left with a huge bill because the family had to be accommodated in hotels while their house was pulled apart by police hoping to find evidence of a terrorist plot.
The brothers, who were released without charge, won an apology months later but legal wrangling continues.
There were calls for Sir Ian to resign at the time, although the judgment that a raid was justified by the intelligence has been supported within the Met and by ministers.
Labour MP Keith Vaz, who chairs the select committee, said the brothers would be asked about the treatment they received during their arrest and detention. He said: "It is important that the committee has this opportunity to listen to those individuals who have been directly affected by recent counterterrorism legislation."
The committee is inquiring into new counter-terrorism laws planned by the Government.
