Many 'want partners to solve flaws with cosmetic surgery'

Many adults think cosmetic surgery could help solve their partners' physical flaws, a survey suggests.

One in 10 people would consider going under the knife to enhance their own looks, consumer group Which? said.

And 4 per cent of nearly 2,000 adults questioned wanted their partner to think about cosmetic surgery too.

Boob jobs were the surgery men most commonly wanted their partner to undergo.

Flatter stomachs came top of women's wish-lists when it came to improving their partners.

Face and neck lifts were the types of surgery which men were most likely to have themselves.

Tummy tucks topped the list of cosmetic surgery most wanted by women.

But Which? found less than a quarter of respondents who'd had or who were considering cosmetic surgery felt they were very well informed.

The consumer group's health campaigner Michelle Smyth said: "It seems many people are considering a cosmetic change in the future, and perhaps not just for themselves."

Britons spent £360 million on cosmetic treatments in 2005 - a 242 per cent increase since 2000, Which? said.

Its findings are based on a face-to-face survey of 1,978 adults carried out in March plus an online survey of 306 people who had undergone or were planning to have cosmetic surgery.
