I'm open to job offers ... from anyone but Boris, says Paddick

Brian Paddick told Boris Johnson today that he should not waste the cost of a phone call to offer him a job.

Instead the Liberal Democrat candidate, who got only nine per cent of the vote, will be planning his civil partnership ceremony with his boyfriend (known only as Peter), and writing an extra chapter for the paperback version of his book Line Of Fire, due out this year.

He had originally planned his civil ceremony on his 50th birthday, two weeks ago, but postponed it to campaign. Mr Paddick, who has no need to work because of a substantial police pension, said he was open to any offers but added: "I'm not expecting a call from Boris and even if I was I would tell him not to waste the cost of the call."

Another candidate left contemplating her political future was Green Party candidate, 33-year-old Si‚n Berry, who failed even to get on the London Assembly.

She said that later this year she would be helping Green MEP Caroline Lucas in her campaign to become party leader.
