Boris Johnson today announced a £23 million programme to support projects that assist 20,000 unemployed Londoner's return to work.

More than 30 schemes will benefit, including those that help people develop skills such as CV writing. Grants will be made according to results achieved, with payments for the number of people helped into training and then further payments for those in work for at least six months.

Mr Johnson said: "I have a duty as Mayor to harness every revenue stream available that will benefit London and its workforce. "This £23 million funding greatly complements the work already under way to help ensure that Londoners have the skills needed to find work."
