'No sack for bus bosses'

Boris Johnson's campaign team today denied claims he was set to sack current Tube and bus bosses and replace them with private sector figures if he is elected.

The head of FirstGroup's bus operations, Nicola Shaw, and Jay Walder, a partner at consultants McKinsey, have both been touted as a possible new Commissioner of Transport. Former Tory mayoral candidate and ex-transport minister Steve Norris was also touted for a key post at City Hall. Mr Walder, an American who was TfL's director of finance during Bob Kiley's reign, was once close to Ken Livingstone. Current Commissioner Peter Hendy has come under fire for links to Mr Livingstone's aides and for threatening to cut the police's budget if they kept flagging up the dangers of bendy buses.
