Mayor's message for passengers behaving badly - think of others

A campaign to tackle anti-social behaviour on public transport was launched today by Ken Livingstone.

It is targeted at some of the most annoying features of London bus and Tube travel - playing music, talking loudly on mobile phones and eating smelly food.

It will also reinforce the message of giving up your seat for infirm passengers while asking adults, annoyed by the behaviour of children to remember that they were young once.

The campaign consists of a cinema advert by Oscar-nominated director Mike Figgis - who made the film Leaving Las Vegas - and a poster campaign. It will be shown on 799 screens across London from Friday.

The Mayor said: "Public transport is for all Londoners and a little thought from each of us will make a big difference. This campaign simply asks us to think about the effect of our behaviour on other passengers. We all share London's buses and Tube so a little thought for one another can make all of our journeys more pleasant and less stressful."

David Brown of Transport for London said: "Public transport is the main place where people from all walks of life meet every day. What is considered socially acceptable to some may not be interpreted the same way by everyone but we can take responsibility for our actions."
