Mill Hill wins Team of the Month award
04 December 2007
The Ealing school's exciting brand of high-speed 15-man rugby has won admirers across the country for two years.
But November's Team of the Month award, sponsored by Canterbury, goes to second-placed Mill Hill who have made brilliant strides this season. After 10 years of struggle since turning co-ed, they captured the Middlesex Cup and claimed other notable scalps.
South East England wing Robbie Martey and Kodzo Williams are prolific scorers. Skipper Nick Lewis leads from the front row.
Coach Graeme Turner said: "This is such a great bunch of boys who deserve all the success that has come to them."
They receive special training tops from Canterbury.
Missing out by a whisker are an emerging Merchant Taylors, who pipped Mill Hill 10-5 early in the month and are on course for a celebratory December if they can clinch one win for a school record season.
Other strong candidates were Hurstpierpoint College, another school thriving after becoming co-ed, now through to play St Benedict's in the Cup after a five-win unbeaten month, and KCS Wimbledon with fine victories over Whitgift and St Paul's.
