Elisabeth Giauque was killed by fumes from a faulty boiler in a house her super-rich parents had rented from Hussein Jajbhay.
The property developer admitted negligence in failing to inspect the boiler properly.

But his claims of remorse were dismissed after the hearing by Elisabeth’s parents Nathalie and Nicolas, a banker.
The couple, who have three boys, claimed
Jajbhay had needlessly dragged out court proceedings after the death in 2005.
Mr Giauque, who once ranked 86th in The Sunday Times Rich List, said: ‘This occurred in what should be the safest possible environment – in our home.
‘We’ve heard all about Mr Jajbhay’s claims of remorse but if there had been remorse would we have been dragged through this long legal process?
‘The facts of the case are pretty clear, ultimately, he as our landlord was responsible for the maintenance of the boiler.
‘Yet originally he tried to disclaim the ultimate responsibility.’
Mrs Giauque, a 36-year-old American, said: ‘You can never get closure from the death of your child. It’s an unnatural thing.
Hearing: Parents Nathalie and Nicolas Giauque, pictured yesterday, have set up a charity in Elisabeth's name
‘She was our oldest child and she taught us how to be parents.
‘We used to call her the mother hen because she used to look after her two younger brothers so well.
‘We still talk about her at home all the time. We’ve had another little boy since Elisabeth died and all the boys know about her.
‘We run a charity in her name to raise awareness of the dangers of carbon monoxide poisoning.’
French-born Mr Giauque, who is worth more than £50million, moved to London from the U.S. in 2003.
The family rented a £2million mansion in Wimbledon from Jajbhay while they were waiting for building work to finish on the £3million home they now live in.
They returned from dinner out on February 4, 2005, to find Elisabeth collapsed on her bedroom floor.
Fined: Hussein Jujbhay leaving Blackfriars Crown Court yesterday
She was taken to hospital where doctors initially failed to recognise she was suffering from carbon monoxide poisoning. She died two days later.
Tests showed the boiler had been checked in a sub-standard manner and not often enough, Blackfriars Crown Court heard yesterday.
Jajbhay, 50, was also ordered to pay £35,000 in costs by Judge Aidan Marron QC, who described the case as a ‘terrible tragedy’.
