Christopher Priest, 26, was killed after being struck by a Volkswagen Golf outside Villa Park in Aston, Birmingham, yesterday.
His mother Barbara said: "He was a wonderful son and didn't deserve this. He will be sadly missed by me, his dad Lee, sister Natalie and all his family."
The Aston Villa supporter from Sutton Coldfield suffered fatal injuries and three men have been arrested in connection with the inquiry, police said.
The incident occurred after Villa beat local rivals Birmingham City 5-1 but police have dismissed speculation that it was fuelled by team rivalry.
A West Midlands Police spokeswoman said: "A 20-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and is continuing to help with inquiries.
