Mugger attacks Cheeky Girls

Pop twins The Cheeky Girls are recovering today after being mugged on a London street.

The chart-topping pair suffered cuts and bruises when they were thrown to the pavement by a thief who ripped a £700 Gucci bag from one of them as they walked along Oxford Street.

The 21-year-old Romanian twins - Monica and Gabriela Irimia - had been Christmas shopping before visiting a Marylebone school when the attack happened.

They were so shaken by the ordeal that they have now decided to employ bodyguards to be with them whenever they go out.

No money was taken in the attack - the Gucci bag was full of badges bearing the message "Have a Cheeky Christmas" that the girls had planned to hand out at the school.
