My Family actor on drug charge

Television actor Gabriel Thomson has been arrested on suspicion of possessing drugs.

The 21-year-old, who plays Michael Harper in the BBC1 sitcom My Family, was found with substances believed to be cannabis and cocaine at his home in Kingsley Street in Battersea.

Police were called to the address by a woman who was staying with Thomson while his parents and brother were away on holiday. She claimed money had gone missing from her handbag.

Neighbours said Thomson was led away in handcuffs.

A police spokesman said: "A 21-year-old man was arrested at his home on suspicion of possessing Class A and Class C drugs. He was taken to Battersea police station and remains in custody."

The Hammersmith-born actor has also starred in the Jude Law film Enemy at the Gates and in a BBC production of Great Expectations. He was rumoured to be playing Harry Potter before Daniel Radcliffe was announced in the role.
