My wife gave me strength during case says Mosley

Max Mosley paid tribute to his wife today for standing by him during his "Nazi orgy" court case.

The motorsport boss said he had been strengthened by the support of wife Jean, adding: "Considering our engagement we have been together for 50 years. Obviously she was not very happy, actually she was very angry, but in the end we will not be divorcing."

It is the first time he has spoken in detail about his successful privacy action against the News of the World, after it revealed he had taken part in sex games with prostitutes. The High Court dismissed the claim that the games had a Nazi theme. He told Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport: "It was all very embarrassing for my family. Apart from the Nazi element it was all true.

"But everyone does what they want in their private life, because it doesn't hurt anyone. Those that criticise are those that think sex is just the classic missionary position."

Mosley, president of the FIA, said Formula 1 chief Bernie Ecclestone had tipped him off that someone was out to get him: "Even the head of the police in London told me. Bernie gave me the name of someone not that distant from Formula 1 ... soon all will be revealed."

Mosley confirmed he would not be standing for re-election at the end of his FIA presidency next year.
