Run, before the gifts arrive! Couples feel burdened by unloved presents
Most newlyweds hate their wedding gifts and wish their guests had just bought them vouchers, a survey found.
The worst five presents were personalised bath robes, salt and pepper pots, candlesticks, photo frames and plates, couples said.
Sixty-eight per cent confessed to hating their gifts - and 72 per cent said they'd rather receive vouchers or money.
The main concern over giving guests free rein was that couples would be forced to display hated ornaments years after the big day.
But giving vouchers isn't necessarily the perfect solution - 28 per cent of those who received them found them difficult to spend.
Overall, 85 per cent said they'd prefer to choose their own gifts, found researchers for The Bridges Shopping Centre, in Sunderland.
A spokesman said: 'We were shocked to find so many unhappy couples surveyed on what should be a happy occasion.'
