Night of gun violence leaves one dead and two injured in Manchester

In a nearby incident, a 14-year-old was taken by ambulance to hospital with a gunshot wound to the right leg.
Police could not formally confirm if the two incidents were linked, but said they both happened around midnight and nearby to each other.
Initial reports suggested even more people may have been injured.

The incidents come just two days after a 16-year-old boy was shot in Stockwell, south London, by a gang who chased him on bicycles.
The 23-year-old was killed in Frobisher Close, Chorlton on Medlock, shortly after midnight. After the same incident a 33-year-old man admitted himself to Manchester Royal Infirmary after arriving by private car.
The 14-year-old was shot in the right leg in nearby Stretford Road in Hulme.
A spokeswoman for North West Ambulance Service confirmed he was taken to Hope Hospital in Salford, Manchester.
Armed and unarmed police were patrolling the area to calm the situation, a police spokeswoman said, and armed police were guarding Manchester Royal Infirmary, the hospital confirmed.
The latest violence is the third shooting in Manchester in just a week.
Yesterday, a 16-year-old boy was been targeted in a drive-by shooting in Hartington Road, Moss Side, Manchester.
The teenager escaped with a minor injury to his leg and was released from hospital after treatment.
And on Tuesday a 36-year-old man was shot in the hip in the Longsight area of the city.
Last month Ucal Chin, 24, of Frobisher Close where the incident took place, was killed in a drive-by shooting in the Longsight area of Manchester.
