As special treats go, it was just what the doctor ordered.
Nurses at a private care home arranged for four of their male residents, all suffering from Huntington's disease, to be taken to a lapdancing club.
Among the stiletto-wearing girls waiting for them was pink-haired Mimi from Paris, who works under the name of Snowflake, tattooed Cherry and former topless model Linsey Dawn Mckenzie.
Boys' night out: Dancers and staff at Divas Gentlemen's Club in Newquay, Cornwall, are joined by four clubbers from the Millaton Court Nursing Home in nearby Launceston
And, in what was clearly a successful night out, they were treated to individual dances, games on the roulette table and free drinks.
Among the men was 54-year-old Stephen Pitt. Mr Pitt, originally from Reading, said: 'The girls were very nice - we all had a lap dance individually. I'd like to go again.'
The outing was organised last Thursday from Millaton Court, a home in Launceston, Cornwall, which specialises in caring for those with Huntington's.
Among its more normal attractions are horse-riding, swimming and classical music trips. The home has also arranged for residents to go abseiling and canoeing.
But staff did not bat an eyelid when asked to fix a trip to the club.
Therapeutic: One of the care home residents receives a private lap dance at Divas
Mental health nurse Katie Uglow rang around and was delighted when Divas Gentlemen's Club in Newquay agreed to accept the party - and the girls agreed to dance for free.
She said: 'The girls and all the staff at Divas treated the guys with kindness and respect and certainly gave them a night to remember.'
Clinical services manager Andrea Clark said the visit was good for the men.
She added: 'One of the guys said he wanted to go for a lapdance, so we offered the trip to everyone else and three others said they wanted to go along too.
'At the end of the day, these guys are adults and our job is to minimise the impact of the disease in their lives.
'We try to enable people to lead the lifestyle they had without Huntington's disease.
'All the guys were able to make an individual decision.
'One of them does have a wife and she was fully informed and happy for him to go along.'
Huntington's is a genetic disorder affecting movement which gradually destroys a number of brain functions.
Physical symptoms occur in the late 40s and 50s and include jerky movements, slurring of speech and loss of muscle control.
Miss Clark added: 'We offer an extensive recreation and therapeutic package to residents. We try to discover ways for people to live with the disease.'
Club: The venue where the four men enjoyed their night out
Millaton Court, which also provides dementia care, is run by the Barchester Group which has 170 homes nationwide.
Alan Whitehead, who runs Divas, said: 'We were delighted to host them and gave our services for free. The girls had a great time and were queuing up to give the chaps dances.'
Last week it was revealed that a 90-year-old woman at another care home in Cornwall was served fish and chips by a waiter in a thong.
