Offset your emissions with the Eros Green Card

The Evening Standard today launches the Eros Green Card, allowing readers to offset the carbon emissions of their lifestyle.

The card - which also lets owners pay for a discounted Standard by tapping it on a vendor's pad - will help readers cut their environmental impact with CO2 offsetting.

We have joined carbon offset experts Climate Care to enable card-holders to fund sustainable energy projects around the world via a simple monthly direct debit.

There are three levels of offset, costing £5, £7 or £10, depending on lifestyle. The money pays for projects such as setting up windfarms in China or providing low emission stoves for villagers in Cambodia or Uganda.

Climate Care founder Mike Mason said: "The key is for people to reduce emissions, and that is absolutely the first thing they need to look at before offsetting.

"But it is also very important to look at what projects you are actually investing in. At Climate Care we are not about planting trees, we invest only in independently verified projects that have a measurable reduction in CO2."

To sign up, for the card go to www.eroscard.co.uk/green.

The Eros Green Card does not replace the existing Eros Card: it has the same benefits but the advantage of helping you be environmentally friendly. If you have a query please call our helpline on 0845 6022754.
