Olympic Park 'could become enclave for rich'

The Olympic Park is in danger of becoming a Canary Wharf-style preserve of the rich with few benefits for deprived local neighbourhoods, the 2012 "legacy czar" warned.

Baroness Ford spoke out after she demanded changes to the plan for 5,000 homes on the 500-acre site.

The chairwoman of the Olympic Park Legacy Company wants hundreds more family homes with gardens and fewer flats. She told the London Assembly's economic development committee: "I don't want it to turn into Canary Wharf, where none of that wealth creation spills out into other areas."
