Playboy Coco is given a chance

QPR are poised to add more Latin flavour to Loftus Road by signing former Italy defender Francesco Coco.

The 30-year-old was at Rangers' training base in Harlington yesterday with new owner Flavio Briatore, and is set to sign for the club in January if he impresses manager Luigi De Canio during a trial spell.

Coco, who played 17 times for Italy, has been without a club since he left Inter in the summer, claiming at one point he was going to retire.

He said at the time: "In the end I decided that, after a career full of great moments, I didn't want to finish on a low note, so I decided to finish with football."

Coco has a reputation for being a playboy.

He has been linked romantically with Italian models Samantha De Grenet, Manuela Arcuri and Francesca Lodo, and was known as a party animal.

In mid-September, Coco appeared in the Italian version of Celebrity Love Island.
