Poisonous Asian centipede bit woman in bed

It is thought the four-inch tiger centipede crept into her bag in Kerala. When she got home to Dartford, it got into her bed and bit her as she slept.
Her husband managed to trap the creature, and she was treated with steroids after suffering an allergic reaction to the bite. Liz Frazer, a matron at Darent Valley Hospital, said: "We could see she was already starting to have a mild allergic reaction so we treated the wound and gave her a short course of steroids to dampen it down.
"It was an aggressive little creature. We phoned the RSPCA and they took it away, and it is now hoped it will be sent back to Kerala, in southern India."
The woman was discharged from hospital after treatment. Tiger centipedes live in dry, hot climates. Their name derives from the stripes across their backs.
