Police chief Dizaei arrests man after restaurant row

Police chief Ali Dizaei arrested a man after a bizarre row outside an Iranian restaurant.

The Scotland Yard Commander was allegedly poked in the arm and stomach with the four-inch mouth piece of a "hubbly bubbly" or hookah water pipe by 23-year-old Waad Al-Baghdadi.

Al-Baghdadi also allegedly shouted abuse at Mr Dizaei outside Yas in Kensington, west London, late on Friday night. Mr Dizaei, 45, a regular there, was in full uniform and had been dining with his wife. He was allegedly accosted by Al-Baghdadi, a web designer, who was reportedly angry at a perceived snub.

Al-Baghdadi, accused of a public order offence, was bailed until next month.
