Police name six more suspects who used British passports in 'Mossad hit'

The alleged Mossad hit squad behind the assassination of a Hamas leader used 12 British passports in total, it was claimed today.

Dubai police have identified 15 new suspects in the killing of Mahmoud al-Mabhouh at a hotel in the emirate which has been widely blamed on the Israeli spy service.

All of the new suspects used European passports - six British, three Irish, three French and three Australian.

The British passports were in the names of Philip Carr, Gabriella Varney, Stephen Drake, Mark Sklur, Daniel Schnur and Roy Cannon.

The new suspects are thought to have been using phoney passports. Dubai police have named a total of 26 suspects in the 19 January assassination of al-Mabhouh, a founder of the armed wing of Hamas.

In addition to the 12 Britons, six of the suspects are Irish, four French, three Australian and one German. Six of them are women.

Dubai police also said today that they had tracked down the credit cards used by 14 of the suspects while they were in the emirate. The cards were all issued by MetaBank of the United States.

Israel has refused to confirm or deny any involvement by Mossad in the killing.
