Officers in Middlesbrough said it was their biggest haul of the class A drug and that the operation will have caused dealers major disruption.

A search warrant was executed in Oxford Road on Tuesday and police arrested two men.

One was charged with possession with intent to supply and was due to appear in court today, while another was bailed pending further inquiries.

Another man was arrested at another address where more heroin was found, and was being questioned today. Detective Inspector Mel Ashley said: "I am delighted with this result.

"It is the largest recovery we have had in Middlesbrough and means we have deprived the dealers in this area of making a substantial amount of money from dealing in drugs."
