Railworks to cause autumn of disruption

Commuters using the North London line will suffer an autumn of disruption because of major engineering works.

A tunnel near Hampstead Heath is being widened and three bridges are being strengthened in Islington and Waltham Forest. The track will be upgraded.

Transport for London says that when the work is finished freight and passenger services will share the tracks more efficiently.

The Gospel Oak to Willesden Junction section will shut from 1 September to 17 November. The Gospel Oak to Barking section will shut from 1 September to 29 September, and the Gospel Oak to Camden Road section will close between 22 and 29 September.

Replacement buses will be provided but TfL is urging passengers to find alternative routes.
