Reward yourself, reward the planet
22 April 2008
The Eros Green Card does not replace the existing Eros Card: it has all the same benefits but the added advantage of helping you to be environmentally friendly. The Evening Standard has teamed up with carbon offset experts Climate Care to enable readers to fund sustainable energy projects and cut pollution.
Using the simple tips in this supplement, we hope you will be able to cut the emissions in your everyday life. We all have to accept that it is virtually impossible to live carbon free, so that is why we are also offering the chance to offset some or all of your carbon emissions.
For every tonne of CO2 you produce you can pay Climate Care to ensure the same amount of CO2 is no longer emitted elsewhere in the world, such as giving low emission stoves to villagers in Cambodia, or setting up windfarms in China.
"Offsetting is like recycling," says Edward Hanrahan, of Climate Care. "Just as we recycle at the same time as trying to reduce the amount of waste we produce, so we can all offset our carbon at the same time as reducing our footprint."
To sign up, all you have to do is decide what level of offsetting you need by following our three easy steps. You can then register online at www.eroscard.co.uk/green for the Eros Green Card to offset your carbon footprint by direct debit.
If you want to do more, we are also offering 20 per cent off the Green Concierge Company's service, which will help you to improve your home's green credentials.
Our existing Eros card has proved a success in London, giving readers a cashless payment card, discounts on the price of their Evening Standard and special offers in theatre, shopping, travel, books and food.
