Russia star Diniyar eyes move to Chelsea

Russia midifelder Diniyar Bilyaletdinov is hoping to earn a move to the Premier League while wrecking England's chances of qualifying for Euro 2008.

The Lokomotiv Moscow player had a key role in Russia's victory over England last month and has already caught the eye of Chelsea.

The 22-year-old said: "I want to be a part of a great team, and perhaps advancing to Euro 2008 will be a professional springboard - both for me and others on the national team. I'm ready to go West - I just hope an offer will come my way. I'll have to prove myself all over again in clubs of this big a size, but I am prepared for any challenge."

Bilyaletdinov fits the bill for the creative player Avram Grant is seeking to sign in January.

Grant was in the stands to watch the player and his Serbian club-mate Branislav Ivanovic last month and is set to cast his eye over the Russian again against Israel on Saturday.

The midfielder believes he will have to do more to impress the Chelsea manager. He said: "Grant definitely got a negative impression of me. It was a poor game. But my feeling is something big and important is coming."

Grant, himself, is in demand since taking over from Jose Mourinho. Israel FA president Avi Luzon would like him to succeed Dror Kashtan if his contract talks are not resolved.

However, Grant, who was Israel manager between 2002 and 2005, is set to sign a new three-year deal at Chelsea.
