Senior Tory blasts Tamil war protests

A Conservative former Home Office minister has criticised Tamil protesters for holding demonstrations around Parliament.

Earl Ferrers's comments follow weeks of protests from the Tamils about alleged human rights abuses by the Sri Lankan government.

Lord Ferrers asked at question time: "Do you think that it is right that a whole lot of people from other countries should come here, should inundate Parliament Square, should inundate the roads around Parliament Square and bring their cooking utensils and have fry-ups on Parliament Square and prevent people getting access to Parliament, using vast quantities of police?"
