Shop robbers make a bad call

ROBBERS posing as police tricked a Budgens worker into letting them into the shop but the bungling gang then locked him in an office with a phone.

The 38-year-old called 999 and the gang were forced to flee.

The four robbers got into Budgens on Haverstock Hill in Belsize Park after the employee let them in at 8am on Sunday. He was then pushed to the floor, handcuffed and had a bag put over his head.

Store boss Andrew Thornton said: "If four policemen are shouting 'Open up the door', you think 'I better let them in'. But they locked him in a room with a phone, which was a bit stupid."
