Six people were killed in a horror crash on the A429 in Gloucestershire
A sixth person, a 61-year-old woman, died in hospital early today.
Police believe the crash happened when a grey Peugeot 306 travelling northbound tried to overtake a red Kia, colliding head-on with a green VW Passat.
All those in the Passat are thought to be from Stow-on-the-Wold. The 61-year-old front-seat passenger died in hospital and the driver, a 53-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The injured boy and girl were travelling with another female passenger in the back seats of the Passat.
Police today said the boy was being treated at Bristol's Frenchay hospital for head injuries, and the girl at Bristol Children's Hospital for abdominal injuries.
The woman, believed to be 34, was receiving treatment for chest injuries at Gloucestershire Royal hospital.
A police statement said: "All four occupants of the grey Peugeot 306 involved were pronounced dead at the scene.
"They are believed to be a 35-year-old man, a 15-year-old girl, a 31-year-old woman, all thought to be from Moreton-in-Marsh, and a 20-year-old man, from the Chipping Norton area.
"The red Kia, with two female occupants, was also involved in the road traffic accident, but fortunately no one from this vehicle was injured."
Road closures were still in place today at the junction of the A44 and the A429 at the Moreton-in-Marsh turning, the A429 Longborough turning, the A429 at Stowe, and the Donnington crossroads.
Gloucestershire Police called for anyone who witnessed the accident to contact them on 0845 0901 234, quoting incident number 536.
