Six-year-old boy dies after crashing mini-motorbike into a tree
06 July 2007
A six-year-old boy has been killed after crashing his mini-motorbike into a tree.
Kane Small, from Bloxwich, West Midlands, died after the vehicle he was riding in a nature reserve crashed on Sunday.
The youngster was flown by air ambulance from the scene of the incident, near the Arrowcraft Marina, to Birmingham Children's Hospital, where he died.
Kane's funeral will take place on July 17 at All Saints Church in Bloxwich.
His family issued a statement inviting anyone wishing to pay their respects to attend the service.
They said their son was "infatuated" with mini motorbikes, and had been riding a friend's vehicle when the incident happened.
The statement added: "We would like to thank the many people of Bloxwich and in particular the Mossley Estate for all the many floral tributes, and help and support that has been received during this sad time."
His parents also called for more funding to be given to local authorities so organised mini motorbike tracks can be created.

The statement added: "We believe consideration should be given to funding organised tracks through the local authority or lottery grants so that ordinary people can take their children to use their motorbikes in a safe and supervised place."
