Spurs revise training ground plan

Tottenham are pinning their hopes on a revised proposal for a new £30million training ground in Bull's Cross after ditching their original plans.

Spurs were refused planning permission for the original application by Enfield Council - even though it had been approved by the Mayor - and were due to face a planning inquiry in November.

But the first proposal has now been scrapped and a completely new application will go before the council's planning panel on 11 October. Club secretary John Alexander said: "We have significantly remodelled the design, leading to what we believe is a positive planning balance and a better proposal.

"This addresses the reasons for our prior application's refusal. In light of this we have withdrawn our appeal for the previous application."

The new plans include ten grass pitches and one synthetic, a screened building with main vehicle access located away from the historic Myddelton House in Bull's Cross.

The Enfield Society is unimpressed by the late change of plan by Tottenham.

Spokesman Colin Pointer said: "They no doubt think that the new application is stronger. We are planning to oppose it. Although there are some minor improvements, it's still a monstrous intrusion into the rural area."
