Squatters win eviction battle from £5m home

The group took over the five-storey former language school near Waterloo station last month, creating studios, galleries and cinema in its 60 rooms.
Calling themselves The Oubliette art collective, the 14 squatters faced eviction by Lambeth Council, but have won a court hearing after saying they had repaired the former school and hostel, which had been empty since August 2007. They have been granted the right to stay on for the moment.
They now plan to open the building to the public from 22 June as a space for art, films, theatre and bands.
Dan Simon from the group said: "The Oubliette Arthouse will enrich London's cultural landscape by creating unusual spaces with potential for innovative performances and exhibitions.
"We are working with site-specific theatre projects and we are able to support emerging artists by providing work and exhibition spaces they couldn't afford otherwise."
