What can I do to stop infection?Avoid people with obvious symptoms. Wash your hands with soap and water regularly and cover your mouth and nose when sneezing or coughing.
What are the threats to pregnant women and small children? Those with the highest rate of flu-like illness earlier this month were aged one to 14. Babies and children under five are at high risk because their immune systems are not strong. During pregnancy the immune system is naturally suppressed.

How serious is the threat? The Government is working on a worst-case scenario of 65,000 deaths. But some health experts have said the toll could be as low as 6,000 - the same number that die in a normal seasonal flu every year.
