Teenager admits killing

A TEENAGE thug was behind bars today after he admitted killing a 16-year-old rival in a street fight.

Liam Palmer, 18, smashed a brick into Ofiyke Nmezu's face in High Street, Ponders End, on 15 February this year.

Ofiyke, of Upper Edmonton, collapsed two weeks later, and died in hospital of a fractured skull on 29 February.

Palmer, the brother of a professional footballer, admitted manslaughter today at the Old Bailey after earlier pleading not guilty to murder. Older brothers Aiden, 21, a Leyton Orient left-back and England under-19 international, and Daryl, 20, are accused of perverting the course of justice by giving Liam a false alibi.

Liam Palmer, of Thaxted, Essex, was remanded pending sentencing on 14 November. Aiden and Daryl Palmer, of the same address, were freed on bail.
