That's how you do it, Gordon! David Cameron shows off his tennis skills

Should David Cameron ever challenge Gordon Brown to a game of tennis, the Prime Minister would be wise to decline.

The Tory leader looked quite at home on the court yesterday, as he played former British No.1 Andrew Castle at Wimbledon.

Mr Cameron's evident familiarity with a racquet was in marked contrast to the Prime Minister's more laboured efforts at a school sports policy launch in July.

Mr Castle, 44, now a GMTV presenter, said the Conservative leader, three years his junior, "put up a very good show", despite losing in straight sets. He added: "He did send me a text during the week saying he was no Bjorn Borg but that he was looking forward to the game.

"As it turned out we had a really enjoyable 90 minutes on court - he's certainly a very fit guy."

An onlooker said of the match: "Cameron displayed an awesome forehand, a weak backhand, but a swerving, left-handed serve that kicked like a mule!"

Mr Cameron's childhood home had a court and he also played the game while at Eton and Oxford.
