It emerged as the court heard new evidence of the paparazzi's role.
Witnesses said Diana's Mercedes collided with a mystery vehicle deliberately "blocking" its path to help pursuing paparazzi move in close enough to take pictures.
The Mercedes tried to overtake a slower "blocking vehicle" as it zoomed into the Alma tunnel at more than 90mph, the jury was told.

But the driver, Henri Paul, is said to have bumped into the slower car and hit a tunnel pillar.
Immediately after, the unidentified dark car and a motorcycle tailgating the Mercedes fled the scene.
The court heard the paparazzi swarmed around the crumpled car as paramedics tried to restart Dodi Fayed's heart.

The case against the seven paparazzi was dropped following an inquiry by a French magistrate.
Yesterday the inquest in London heard that there were a series of "violent flashes" around the Mercedes as it was pursued by paparazzi on motorcycles on August 31, 1997.
Speaking via videolink from Paris, witness Benoit Boura said that as he drove towards the tunnel with his girlfriend, Gaelle L'hostis, he saw flashes of light he compared to a speed camera or radar gun.

Miss L'hostis, who is now his wife, added: "I saw a vehicle of a dark colour that was driving rather slowly. It was hindering a Mercedes."
After the crash, Mr Boura parked and attempted to stop traffic entering the tunnel.
But a photographer, Laslo Veres, forced his way through shouting "press".
About 15 minutes later Mr Boura re-entered the tunnel on foot.
Seven photographers, including Romuald Rat, Christian Martinez and Jacques Langevin, were jostling to get close to the car, getting in the way of the rescue crews, the court heard.
Miss L'hostis said that when police told them to stop taking photographs they responded "violently, verbally".
Jacques Morel told the court he had seen secret documents proving the crash happened after an illfated plot by French photojournalist James Andanson to stop the Mercedes.
The eccentric author, whose book about his conspiracy theory has never been published, claimed the idea was to get pictures and interview Diana and Dodi.
Mr Morel alleged that the day after the crash he had told Dodi's father, Mohamed, that he had stepped on the toes of a man in the tunnel wearing "western- style boots".
He claimed that Mr Fayed replied: "I knew they were there. I was sure, they're the b******* that did it, the Secret Service."
Mr Andanson committed suicide in 2000.
He always denied being in the tunnel.
The hearing continues.
