The wedding's off: bride really is sick with nerves

A bride-to-be is scared sick of getting married.

Emma Pelling, from Croydon, has postponed her wedding because she has a phobia of vomiting and fears she will be sick during the ceremony.

The 19-year-old plans to undergo hypnotherapy for the condition, emetophobia, which she has suffered for five years.

The trainee vet, who is engaged to actor Gareth, 21, said: "Most brides would be getting excited and planning everything - but I simply can't bear thinking about it. "I'm grateful to Gareth for being so understanding. I love him very much but at the moment simply can't marry him.I want to make it a special day for both of us."

Clinical hypnotherapist David Samson said: "It's an incredibly complex phobia and it can completely take over people's lives. I'm sure I can cure Emma so that her life can be totally different. Hopefully, walking down the aisle won't seem a problem."
