Thousands of fans welcome world champion Button back home

Cheering fans welcome new Formula One world champion Jenson Button at Bluewater shopping centre today.

More than 100,000 people turned out to see Button in his first public appearance in Britain since securing the title in Brazil on Sunday.

The 29-year-old drove a supercar along a special track outside the centre, followed by a question and answer session with fans. Button said: "Every day in the next year I'm going to wake up with a big smile on my face."
