The body of Muireann McLaughlin was discovered by a member of her family in a bedroom at their home yesterday.
It is understood that the toddler somehow managed to get herself knotted in the cord and she was pronounced dead at hospital.
Police said that there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding Muireann's death in Menstrie, Clackmannshire, Scotland
A Central Scotland Police spokesman said: "We can confirm that a two-year-old girl has died in a tragic accident within her home address.
"There are no suspicious circumstances and Central Scotland Police officers are supporting the family at this time."
A report on the circumstances will be submitted to the procurator fiscal at Alloa as is standard procedure in any sudden death.
