Britain's top Asian policeman is taking legal action against Scotland Yard over alleged race discrimination.
Assistant Commissioner Tarique Ghaffur, 53, has announced he plans to lodge a complaint with an employment tribunal in the next ten days, after peace talks with the Metropolitan Police broke down two weeks ago.
It is another blow for Met chief Sir Ian Blair, who is already under investigation over £3million worth of police work awarded to his close friend Andy Miller.
Legal action: Tarique Ghaffur is to lodge a complaint with an employment tribunal over alleged racial discrimination
Mr Ghaffur is expected to submit a statement to that inquiry too, concerning Sir Ian's links to a different businessman who won a contract advising the Met on 2012 London Olympics security.
Sir Ian must also brace himself for next month's inquest into the Stockwell shooting of Jean Charles de Menezes.
Mr Ghaffur's lawyer Shahrokh Mireskandari said: 'The Ghaffur case will expose the true position in relation to the discrimination within Scotland Yard at the highest level.
'It will reveal the reality of racism in the Met. It is a massive claim that could destroy the Commissioner and his golden circle.'
Sir Ian has previously rejected the racism claims and has denied any wrongdoing over the awarding of contracts to Mr Miller.
Scotland Yard said it would be inappropriate to comment while proceedings are ongoing.
