Top Guns 'are best team on the planet'

Reading striker Dave Kitson today called Arsenal the "best team on the planet" after they cruised to victory against his side to overtake Manchester United at the top of the table.

Kitson said he can only admire the "phenomenal" standard of Arsenal's football and predicts their trophy cabinet will be bursting with silverware in the coming seasons.

Goals from Mathieu Flamini, Emmanuel Adebayor and Alexander Hleb secured Arsene Wenger's side a convincing 3-1 victory last night and extended their unbeaten run to a club record 27 games.

"They are the best team on the planet right now," said Spurs fan Kitson. "It's absolutely phenomenal stuff and unbelievably difficult to play against. You just have to take your hat off to them.

"Arsene Wenger must be licking his lips because there is just silverware here on in for Arsenal to be honest."

Arsenal are back on the league summit and Adebayor admits it was important to strike a psychological blow against United ahead of the international break.

He said: "It gives us a lot of confidence. The most important thing was to do a good job tonight and win the game but to be back at the top is great as well.

"We wanted to stay ahead of Manchester [United] and show them we are strong and we have done that. We are playing really good football and there is a great feeling in the team."

Kitson says it is fascinating to compare Arsenal's style with that of United and Chelsea. "Arsenal are not reliant on one, two, three or even four people," he said. "They all chip in and I thought they had another couple of gears to go.

"Trying to get near [Cesc] Fabregas, Hleb, and [Tomas] Rosicky is a tough ask. The thing that amazes you most is they are not just passing to each other - they are passing so that the other person can run on to the ball and then his mind is made up with what he is going to do next. It will be close at the end of the season and that's what everyone wants to see.

"Even for a Tottenham fan to say this is blasphemy but you hope that a team who play as well as Arsenal win something.

"And that approach is then justified because it is pure magic. When that money came in from Barcelona for [Thierry] Henry, Wenger must have been looking at it and at Adebayor and thinking it was Christmas.

"These kids he has coming through are all unbelievable.

"Just looking at Adebayor as a technician and as a player, that is what every striker should aspire to. He is just fantastic.

"In the second half he went up another notch. His finish for the goal came at him so quick and he just cushioned it into the far corner. Even Kolo Toure standing next to me was full of admiration."

Fabregas was again outstanding and Kitson said the Spaniard is undoubtedly one of the Premier League's standout performers.

He added: "Best player in the league? You are looking at [Didier] Drogba, [Cristiano] Ronaldo, even Adebayor. It is not fair that a kid that young can have so much talent.

"He is world class already and that is a hell of a statement. Definitely among the top five players in the league and one of the top players in the world. He can only get better."
