Sarah Hurley, 18, of Stanmore, died on the University of Northampton campus hours after complaining of severe neck pain.

Family and friends paid tribute to the popular sociology student as the family, who said they did not fully understand the reasons for her death, awaited test results.

Her sister Louise, 23, said: "Sarah had worked extremely hard to get into university and it made her the happiest she has ever been."

Miss Hurley did not join friends on a night out last Wednesday because she was feeling ill. The next morning they went to check on her and discovered her body in her bathroom.

She lived with her mother Alison, 49, and IT worker father Stephen, 50, and had two older sisters, Christine, 25, and Louise. Christine said: "We were told it was probably a brain haemorrhage, possibly from a tumour or an aneurysm."
